Dr. Michelle Kates

Dr. Michelle Kates has been practising at South Burnaby Vet Hospital since 1998. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, in 1995. She first worked in Toronto for a few years before moving out to beautiful British Columbia. She came initially for a one year contract, but then fell in love with the area (and our practice) and decided to stay! Dr. Kates is a very dedicated veterinarian who adores her job as is well-loved by our clients and staff. Dr. Kates lives in Vancouver with her husband Sol, their son Aaron and daughter Hannah. Also part of the family is “Dawson,” the most lovable dog, " Luke,” the crazy one in the family, and "Sketch," the cat whose name suits her! She enjoys the outdoors, especially going for walks in the endowment lands and low tide at Spanish Banks and can often be found there on sunny days. Dr. Kates has a great passion for internal medicine, is very thorough and practices exceptionally high-quality medicine. She makes a point of keeping on top of the latest and greatest by attending seminars and coordinating with specialists. She has special interests in dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology and geriatric medicine.
